Project Empower- The After-School Program 

 

In our Gross Pointe location, this program serves youth from Southeastern High School and Denby High School. Mentees in this program participate in life skills training, college tours, and community service activities.

 

Social support systems are crucial to our health and well-being. As a volunteer for Caught Up, you will build impactful relationships in your community, while being a part of an organization that supports young people seeking reassurance and guidance.

MENTORS

Mentor Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Circle Talks

  • Lead by example

  • Be relatable to youth and accepting of personal differences in lifestyle and values

  • Be respectful of the mentee’s right to self-determination and independence

  • Communicate with mentees on a regular basis by checking in with them and on their schoolwork

TUTORS

  • The tutor should demonstrate academic competence in subject area(s) and ability to build and execute a curriculum

  • Tutors will act as a role-model for mentees

  • Attend weekly team meetings and collaborate effectively with parents and Caught Up mentors to enhance student performance and address individual student needs.

  • Regularly tracks mentee grades and recognizes the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance; demonstrate the ability to teach the "whole child"

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS

Provide general administrative support in a specific area, as needed. Certain opportunities may be available remotely.

Administrative Support Team

  • Perform basic bookkeeping tasks including bill paying, check cutting, mailing checks, making deposits, invoicing

  • Purchase office supplies and keep storage room stocked and organized

  • Prepare for Board of Directors meetings by printing agendas, minutes, and other documents

  • Maintain organizational files and documents

  • Serve as first point of contact for the organization

  • Manage donor database

  • Perform general administrative support

             

                Grant Management Team

  • Track grants using Instrumentl grant management tools

  • Grant writing experience is a plus

 

Special Events Team

  • Assist with scheduling field trips

  • Assist with coordination of event logistics

Communications Team

  • Assist with print and electronic newsletters

  • Coordinate website updates

  • Assist with donor communications, including appeal and thank you letters

  • Coordinate bulk mailings

  • Maintain organizational archives

  • Take on additional tasks as directed by the Executive and Associate Directors
